List of ACRYLATES/ MONOMERS

Methyl Methacrylate Monomer

Applications:

modifier for PVC, Used as the "grout" by orthopedic surgeons to make the bone inserts fix into bone, Acrylic sheet | Adhesives | Dental | Dispersions/Emulsions | Enamels | Paper & Water | Plastics | Reactive Systems, acrylic resins, acrylic sheet, acrylic lattices for paints, floor polishes, waxes, adhesives, sizing, acrylic solutions for lacquers and thermosetting automotive and appliance enamels, homopolymers and copolymers with the largest application being the casting, moulding or extrusion of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) or modified polymers, MMA polymers and copolymers is in surface coatings and impregnation resins to give colours fastness and weather-resistance properties to latex paints, lacquer resins and stoving enamels.

Acrylic Acid

Applications:

Acrylate esters, Superabsorbent polymers, Detergents, Dispersants, Water treatment (flocculation of mineral ore fines and waste water , and treatment of sewage), plastics, paper manufacture and coatings, adhesives, elastomers, as well as floor polishes, interior wall paints and exterior house paints for wood and masonry , floor and wall coverings , printing inks , industrial primers, textile sizing, treatment and finishing, leather impregnation and finishing, masonry sealers

Poly Methyl Methacrylate (PMMA)

Applications:

it is often used as a lightweight or shatter-resistant alternative to glass, also used in rear-lights and instrument clusters for vehicles, appliances and lenses for glasses for mobile phones, rear projection and touch screens, illuminated signs, street lighting and industrial lamps. PMMA in the form of sheets affords shatter resistant panels for building windows, skylights, bullet proof security barriers, signs & displays, sanitary ware (bathtubs), LCD screens, furniture and many other applications. It is also used for coating polymers based on MMA, In orthopedic surgery, PMMA bone cement is used to affix implants and to remodel lost bone.Dentures are often made of PMMA, and can be color-matched to the patient's teeth & gum tissue. PMMA is also used in the production of ocular prostheses, such as the osteo-odonto-keratoprosthesis.In cosmetic surgery, tiny PMMA microspheres suspended in some biological fluid are injected under the skin to reduce wrinkles or scars permanently, Acrylic paint essentially consists of PMMA suspended in water;PMMA was used in LaserDisc optical media. (CDs and DVDs use both acrylic and polycarbonate for impact resistance.), It is used as a light guide for the backlights in TFT-LCDs.Plastic optical fiber used for short distance communication is made from PMMA. PMMA is used as a shield to stop beta radiation emitted from radioisotopes. It can be used as a dispersant for ceramic powders. It has also been used extensively as a hybrid rocket fuel.

Methyl Acrylate (MA)

Applications:

Adhesives, Chemical Intermediates, Coatings, Leather finishing (particularly for nubuck and suede), Plasticizers, Plastics, Textiles, Water Treatment, Methyl acrylate is used in the production of elastomers, thickeners, amphoteric surfactants, fibers, textiles and inks, Water Treatment. Methyl acrylate is also used in chemical synthesis. It is mainly produced to make acrylate fiber, which is used to weave synthetic carpets. It is also a reagent in the synthesis of various pharmaceutical intermediates.

Ethyl Acrylate (EA)

Applications:

EA is used in the production of homopolymers. In addition, EA is used in chemical synthesis as it is an important feedstock. It is also used in the production of co-polymers, for example acrylic acid and its salts, esters, amides, methacrylates, acrylonitrile, maleates, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, styrene, butadiene and unsaturated polyesters. Ethyl acrylate is used in the production of polymers including resins, plastics, rubber, and denture material. EA are used in water based paints and coatings, construction adhesives and pressure-sensetive adhesive, coating for textiles, wood and paper, Leather finishing (particularly for nubuck and suede), manufacture of varios plastics, manufacture of thickeners for industries, in the production of acrylic fibers. EA is also used to manufacture polyacrylate elastomers, acrylic rubber.

Butyl Acrylate (BA)

Applications:

BA is used in the production of homopolymers and co-polymers such as acrylic acid and its salts, esters, amides, methacrylates, acrylonitrile, maleates, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, styrene, butadiene and unsaturated polyesters. Butyl acrylate forms homopolymers and copolymers. Butyl acrylate is also a very useful feedstock for chemical syntheses. n-BA are used in water based paints and coatings, construction adhesive and pressure-sensetive adhesive, coatings for textiles, wood and paper, Leather finishing (particularly for nubuck and suede), the manufacture of various plastics. N‑butyl acrylate is an important raw material and a starting material for many chemical syntheses.

2- Ethyl Hexyl Acrylate (2EHA)

Applications:

2-EH are used in: construction adhesive and pressure- sensetive adhesive, Coatings and finishing products, water based paints and coatings, coating for textiles, wood and paper, Leather finishing (particularly for nubuck and suede), manufacture of varios plastics. 2-Ethylhexyl acrylate is used as a monomer in the chemical industry for the production of polymers and copolymers, which are mainly processed further to aqueous polymer dispersions. The polymers and polymer dispersions are used in adhesives and as binders for paints. Other applications include coatings raw materials and uses in the plastics and textiles industries. 2-Ethylhexyl acrylate is used for the manufacture of fiber and fabric modification, processing aids It is also used as a monomer for the soft polymer. it can serve as plasticizing effect in copolymer. 2-Ethylhexyl crylate can carry out copolymerization, crosslinking and grafting with other monomers. Besides, it can be used as a solvent. It is also a very useful feedstock for chemical syntheses.
